Fallow deer breeding At the moment there are about 350 fallow deers in our pens, they are divvided into three breeding herds. Others groups are: stagsand after separating fawns- fawns female and male.
To build our breeding we took fallowing criteria into account:
- Origin - our animals come from a few best Euopean breedings
- Condition - does of 55-60 kg in weight, stags 150-250 kg , depending on age
- Age - brood does not older than 5 years old
- Quality of stags antlers - accurate depending on age
It is very imortant to tame the animals to some degree, which hepls to control them in a catch pen. A fallow deer is a quite trustful animal and it is easy to tame however you need time and patience to do this. A fallow deer breeding is not difficult and it gives a lot of satisfaction.
Our fallow deers are given only natural food. This feed contains:carrot, beetroot, oats, barley, corn, hay, hay silage, also nessesary is using salt in deer-licks.Daily food demand of a fallow deer in winter season is about 0.7 kg of corn and hay without limitation. In summer it needs permament access to water, deerlicks and good pasture.
Annual upkeep of one deer is about 25 euro. Moreover, its also necessary to deworm twice a year by injection or giving the preparation in food.
